Team 34 “The Rockets” was the FIRST FRC team in the great State of Alabama! Team 34 has a rich history of success just like the FIRST organization. Understanding where you have been lays a firm foundation to where you are going.
So where did Team 34 begin? Team 34 began in 1996 as a partnership between Chrysler Huntsville Electronics and Bob Jones High School. From 1996 - 2005 Team 34 has been a part of 5 different high schools in North Alabama. Since 2005 Team 34 has been at home and very successful at the Limestone County Career Technical Center in Athens, AL.
In addition to the FRC impact Team 34 and it's mentors has had on high schools throughout North Alabama, Team 34 lead the effort in establishing the Alabama Lego League and has suppported the FLL State Tournament and its activities since its beginnings.
Team 34 has supported and established two new FLL teams within our county - FLL team 4927 “Kat Skratch” and 4310 “Rocket Boosters”. Team 34 made a presentation to the Alabama Career Technical Association members at a state-wide professional development conference and as a result has currently mentored FRC Rookie Team 2918 “The GearHeads”.
Alabama has 5 FRC teams, 2 FTC teams and several FLL teams throughout the state.
Team 34 encourages other schools to get involved with FIRST robotics and improve your schools image, curriculum and math, science and engineering student involvement!!

The 2009 FIRST Competition is called Lunacy. Lunacy is played on a 54’x27’ low friction field, known as the "Crater". Robots are equipped with slippery wheels and payload
trailers. Lunacy game pieces are “Orbit Balls” designated as Moon Rocks, Empty Cells, or Super Cells.
Two three-team robot alliances collect and score Orbit Balls in trailers attached to the opposing teams’
robots. Click
